USDA Employee and Others Charged in $66 Million SNAP Fraud Scheme
A massive food stamp fraud scheme has been uncovered. It involved a USDA employee and five others generated over $66 million in unauthorized transactions via the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The suspects include a USDA employee, They are charged with conspiracy to steal government funds and misappropriate USDA benefits. The fraud scheme began in 2019, It involved the sale of EBT license numbers and the use of unauthorized EBT terminals to process fraudulent transactions. The USDA has been cracking down on SNAP fraud, with the Secretary of Agriculture stating that the agency is “hyper-focused on rooting out that waste, fraud, and abuse.”
